Cynthia “Cindy” Procter, 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home on Monday, March 7, 2022.
She was born on November 14, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois to William and Agnes (Tumiati) Dumont. She graduated from Fanger High School in Chicago.
Cindy was a loving mother to her two children, Darlene and William “Billy”. Starting around 1973, the family would bring their camper to Campers Roost on Cook Lake in Plymouth, Indiana on the weekends and during the summer. Her love for the area would bring her to Plymouth as permanent residence when she retired.
She worked as a warehouse manager until her retirement over 17 years ago.
Cindy was a very hands-on and skilled woman, fixing anything that needed done on her own. She loved yardwork and in her early years, she was on a bowling league. She had many friends and was well-known for her big heart and giving spirit. Cindy LOVED to cook and entertain, usually always having a full house most of the time.
She cherished the time she got with her grandchildren, with them all living in different states. Cindy prided herself in raising strong and resilient children and teaching them to work hard for what they wanted in life. Traits she carried onto her grand and great-grandchildren also.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Plymouth, helping cook many of the meals served there throughout the years and the American Legion Post 27.
Cindy is survived by her daughter Darlene (Michele) Dumont; grandchildren: Michelle (Chris) Shumake, Angela Sandoval, Lisa (Jacob) Althoff, Phillip Cary, Quinci O’Brien Dumont and Jackson O’Brien Dumont; great-grandchildren: Brook, Ayla, Joseph, Angelina, Angelique, Hailey, Chase, Annabell, Miah and Michael; and great friend and care giver, Gayle Smith.
She was preceded in death by her son Billy, her parents, and her life partner Janette Russo.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post American Legion Post 27, 1040 E. Jefferson Street, Plymouth, Indiana 46563.

I am so sorry to hear about Cindy’s passing. I know that she has struggled for a while but always kept a positive attitude. Cindy was probably one of the best cooks I have ever met. Her ribs were delicious, she shared her recipe with my husband Steve and the two of them would laugh. Cindy called it her recipe and Steve would brag to anyone that Cindy didn’t know that it was his secret recipe, until Cindy found out and boy did they go around. It was so funny. Cindy won and Steve from that point on said it was Cindy’s recipe. Steve passed and never shared the recipe, he never wrote it down so the two of them both won with keeping the “SECRET” recipe. She will be missed by the many people who loved and respected Cindy. Rest in Peace my friend.
