Julie Ann (Hiester) McLiver (66) of Plymouth Indiana, peacefully returned to her Father in Heaven on February 5th, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.
Julie was born March 15, 1957 in Plymouth Indiana to Robert and Mary Hiester.
Julie met her best friend and lifelong companion, Dave McLiver, in their high school band class. She later followed him to Manchester College where she earned her Associate’s Degree. Dave and Julie were married on December 31, 1977. Shortly after their marriage they joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. There they found a profound love of their Savior Jesus Christ and a lifelong pursuit of serving others. Later they were sealed for all time and eternity in the LDS Washington DC Temple on October 17, 1980.
Dave and Julie welcomed four children into their family and they found great joy in attending the children’s band, choir and guard performances, baseball and football games, swimming and cross country meets. She was always their biggest fan! As her children grew she welcomed three daughters-in-law and ten beautiful grandchildren. She found so much joy being “grandma Julie” and each of her grandchildren were blessed by her unconditional love and support.
Julie enjoyed attending baseball games and sewing. She loved spending time around the table with family, playing card games, and sharing a laugh or two. Everyone who knew Julie knew she had an infectious laugh and a sweet spirit that would brighten a room. Julie had a love of camping and travel. Towards the end of her life she loved to pack up the car with Dave and their dog Indy and go camping or exploring in Michigan.
She worked for the Oregon Davis School Corporation for over a decade and loved serving members of her community.
Julie leaves behind a legacy of love, service and family. Julie was small in stature but she could be fierce and she loved everyone with her big heart. Those who were lucky enough to have her as family, a friend or an acquaintance were forever touched by her actions.
She is preceded in death by her parents Bob and Mary Hiester. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years Dave McLiver, her three sons and their wives, David and Katy (Liam, Loralei), Jack and Emily (Declan, Lucy, Cora, Ivy), Jarom and Jennifer (Emmaline, Christian, Jameson, Adeline), her daughter Amy, and brother John Hiester, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sherrie and Phil Martin, and her mother-in-law Martha McLiver.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints building at 9645 Deer Trail in Plymouth Indiana, Friday, February 9th, 2024. The family will welcome visitors at 3pm, services will begin at 4pm. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Oregon Davis School Corporation in her name. Donations can be sent to 5998 N 750 E, Hamlet, IN 46532.

Don and I were so sorry to hear of Julie’s passing. She was my first golf partner in golf league at Tri-Way. I was just talking with a friend earlier today about past golf partners and I related how Julie and I might not have had the best scores but we had a good time, even both of us scoring chipin-birdies one night on hole #6. I know what a pillar she was to your family and how much you will miss her. May your good memories sustain you. God bless.
