Sharilyn L. Smith, 77, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Edon, OH on September 2, 1946 to Edward and Madiline (Sutton) Rockey.
Shari graduated from Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, TX in 1964 and moved to Waterloo, IN that same year. She would meet her lifelong love, Ralph E. Smith, at a dance held at Hamilton Lake, IN. They would be united in marriage in Waterloo on October 28, 1966.
Having many roles throughout the years, she owned Smith’s Janitorial for several years and worked at Twin Lake Sports. Shari was known for her knowledge of fishing and the area lakes. If anyone had a question about water quality, what fish were biting, or what bait to use, she knew the answer. There were several occasions over the years that the South Bend Tribune would contact her for her expertise of the area lakes. Before her retirement, she most recently worked at Gilsinger Equipment processing their warranty claims.
Shari will be remembered for her outgoing personality and giving heart. She taught her family the importance of forgiveness; an attribute that they will carry with them forever. Shari was a faithful member of Pretty Lake Trinity Methodist Church.
She loved traveling to Arizona and her favorite place to visit was the Grand Canyon. Their family often took weekend getaways and Shari enjoyed visiting the casino. She also collected baseball cards throughout the years. Her family fondly remembers her love for sledding in the cold Indiana winters.
Shari is survived by her husband, Ralph; children, Eric (Marlene) Smith and Kyle Smith; grandchildren, Ben, Sara, Jacob, Charlie, and Riland; and great-grandchild, Stetson. She is also survived by her brothers, Stan, Gary, and Steve Rockey; along with in-laws, Jean King, Charlene Stahl, Jake Smith, Charles Smith, and Kathy Troyer.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 11AM-1PM at Pretty Lake Trinity Methodist Church, 8985 S State Rd 17, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 1PM with Retired Pastor Tammy Boggs officiating.
Burial will take place Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Cancer Association of Marshall County, PO Box 895, Plymouth, IN 46563 or to the Pretty Lake Trinity Methodist Church, 8985 S State Rd 17, Plymouth, IN 46563.

Ralph, Eric and Kyle,
I was saddened to read of Sharilyn’s passing. Although I hadn’t seen her in a few years, the last time I did she was still the sassy lady I remembered when I worked for her (and Ralph) as a teenager. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts. I hope you find comfort in the many memories you have.

Sherry and I went on a couple Lay Witness missions in the mid ‘70 s. We had so much fun and shared our faith. She was a most caring friend and would do all she could to help anyone. I have always had a special place in my heart for her even though our lives were apart because of time and jobs. God be with you Ralph, Eric and Kyle ( and families).
Gloria Krieg.

Ralph and family, so sorry to hear of Sherry’s passing. It has been many years since I saw her at the Twin Lakes store. I loved visiting with her and will always remember my first time to visit Las Vegas with her and Sherry Flosenzier. What a great time we had! Love and prayers to all of you.

Thoughts and prayers are with the family. My mother reminded our family that Sheri can be accredited with the love and joy of white-chocolate-peanut butter-ritz cracker cookies and all the sweetness they bring. To this day, those cookies are sought out when my mom makes them – that recipe – from Sheri years ago. Please know Sheri is a blessing to our community; a treasure to her friends, an example of strength and wisdom to this generation.

Ralph, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Sheri was such a fun person to be around. She always had such a great personality. I hope and pray all the memories all of you made through the years help to bring each and everyone of you peace, and a special smile as you all recall those times. God bless. Deb Booker.

So sad to read of Shari’s passing. During your Buck Rub days, I so enjoyed our visits with Shari. Two very fun trips to Minneapolis with Shari and Ralph, to attend a food show. Laughs galore! Many, many good memories.. Rest in peace, Shari! Mike and Janet Faulstich

Ralph, Eric, Kyle, and families,
I’m so very sorry to learn of Shari’s passing. It’s been quite a few years since I’ve seen Shari, but our friendship goes back over fifty years- so I have a lot of great memories. She was quite the woman I believe could do anything she put her mind to do. She was kind, thoughtful and a lot of fun!! I know you all have a ton of memories, so please cling to them, and knowing she’s with her Savior is so comforting. My prayers and love to you all.
Blessings,
Sandy
